We sail the Jaume II every year

Every year, I Love Ferry's founders, María Luisa Pérez Macho and Javier Blanco Ibarreta, sail from Fort Lauderdale on Balearia Caribbean's Jaume II — some years to Bimini, others to Freeport on Grand Bahama. We've stayed on both islands, at the Hilton at Resorts World Bimini and at the Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach in Freeport.

On our Bimini trip in December 2022 we reached Terminal 21 just after 6:00 a.m., before dawn, and by 9:20 we were on deck watching Fort Lauderdale fall behind. When we advise you, it's from our own trips, not from a brochure.

Tips from our own trips

  • Arrive at Port Everglades Terminal 21 between 6:15 and 6:45 a.m.: check-in opens at 6:00 and doors close at 8:00 for the 9:00 a.m. sailing (Balearia Caribbean help center).
  • On a day trip, return boarding closes one hour before departure: 5:00 p.m. in Bimini and 5:30 p.m. in Freeport.
  • Every traveler needs a passport, kids included (U.S. citizens can use a passport card). Birth certificates and driver's licenses are not accepted.
  • There's no ferry from the Port of Miami: allow 30–45 minutes to drive to Port Everglades.
  • You can't bring your car, so plan to get around the islands on foot, by taxi or on a tour.

Who we are

I Love Ferry is a ferry booking and price-comparison brand with two sites: iloveferry.com, for ferries in Europe and North Africa, and iloveferry.us, where we are an official booking agency of Balearia Caribbean for the Bahamas. It all started with ferrytobahamas.com, our first site for the Bahamas ferry, which grew into iloveferry.us in April 2022.

We have worked with Baleària for more than 10 years, in Europe and in the Bahamas. In 2025 we joined Lanzadera, one of Spain's leading startup accelerators.
